Social Satire and Commentary

Has a particular charm. I like the satire utilized in this seemingly simple scenario. An enjoyable watch and worth the time of the viewer. Satisfactory ending. The art style is a good choice, emitting a Limbo-esque vibe that makes everything look the same but mysterious at the same time. I really enjoy the theme that I took away from it: trying to fit in but in the process standing out and ending up being the center of attention, bending a society's rules and tailoring them to how they suite the "individual". Society vs. Self is the theme I took away from this and it's a contemporary theme that shows up quite frequently in the fine arts. Also, good animation style and the "stretchiness" of the characters gives a cartoony feel to the serious overtone present in the dark, isolated environ. Good work.

Unexpected

I had a feeling about the first surprise, but the ending? Ha ha. Quite the chuckle inducer. I like the animation and artistry of this and the song at the end fits nicely. Quite a treat to watch, especially with an unexpected ending. Good work. P.S. Alan Wake is a great game. I liked the reference in there.

Entertaining, Yet... Disturbing.

Very interesting perspective on the world. I thought a gingerbread man's point of view would be quite bleak, but it never ocurred to me just how disturbing and depressing it is. I like how people are simply represented by hands, feet, and mouths. It keeps your focus on the candy and adds to the mystique of the world the artist has introduced us to. Well done and well thought out, this animation is entertaining at the same time it is sending a message through a hypothetical scenario. It had me so convinced that devouring a chocolate bunny was an act of cannibalism. The author also did a fine job on character development. We start out with our happy-go-lucky gingerbread man. He believes he's found a place where he can be content and happy... that is, until all of it is eaten away from him. Seeing all of his friends become a snack for these mysterious, giant creatures drags him to the brink of his sanity. After he snaps and sees how pointless life really is to him, the unfortunate gingerbread man completes his role as a dynamic character. His life has been completely turned around by the preceding events. He is not the same person. He no longer believes in life. Thus the downfall of the gingerbread man is complete once he indulges in madness and resolves to devour himself. Overall nice animation with good taste. Both literally and figuratively that is.

Dear Johnathan, Hailing From The State Of Utah...

This animation has good artistry, a kick ass soundtrack, and it flows well. It brought a little chuckle into my day, actually, to see something so modern as a 20's or 30's picture show. What also made it "quite delightful" is the use of the supposed language and slang spoken during that decade. Overall a very enjoyable flash. Quite the bang up job, good sir.

Comfortable, Quick, And Puts A Smile On Your Face

A quaint little cartoon that has you smiling in all its entirety. It's amazing how you can get someone to find ordinary objects humorous and lifelike by just drawing faces on them and making them move. Shows a true story of friendship between opposites. A quick little skit providing the perfect amount of time for what its story is about. Anytime I need to smile I'm going to watch this. Well done!

Sufficient Enough To Be Extraordinarily Average

AUTHOR REVIEW: A bit pretentious with the absence of modesty. That's a rule I think everyone should follow: Always start out modest with your work. If it is not liked, no harm done. If it is supported and liked by many, then you get bragging rights. It just seems that the author gave himself a little more credit compared to what they should be properly endowed with.

FLASH REVIEW: The overall story was fine with me. I'm not really a fan of the FF series so you really could make anything, stamp Final Fantasy on the title, and I would agree that it's a FF game. Sound quality could've been better, but was far from inaudible. The voice acting seemed okay but could definitely be picked out if compared to an authentic emphasis. In general it was too expressive when you thought it wouldn't be and it was least expressive when you thought it should be. The style that this was presented in reminds me of some of the movies I see: It's a little "clippy." You start to understand one part of the story and then suddenly another part is thrust into your lap with no transitional phase. This is commonly used to get the plot and the feel of things to take on faster, but sometimes it's just annoying. In this case, it's a little of both. The quality of animation and how well the characters and background were drawn was adequate. I'm no good at artistry so anything better than a crappy, squiggly stick-figure is 100% fine by me. It had a somewhat ominous tone to it and I think that was the main focus. I can see that the author tried to approach at a comedy-based angle around the last quarter of the movie but it just didn't work. If the animation started with at least a minute (m%u012B-n%u014D%u014Dt) serving of humor then it might have worked better, but instead you're following this somewhat intriguing plot with a tone that's the complete opposite of comedy and after a while you suddenly get a couple random acts of humor. The actual humorous parts themselves were some decent jokes, but they were just too random to be near as funny as they should've been. It's like working with a jigsaw puzzle and you find a piece that doesn't quite fit so you get a hammer and smash it in. It's just not the right spot for that particular piece.

Nice Renewal

I really liked the Battlefield series. A nice tribute to the artist (Ringfinger) and a good remake. Good job utilizing simple stick figures and overall simple geometric shapes. Nice application of more modern flash to give an updated feel. You did a good job imitating The Battlefield although there are some key differences that you made either by personal preference or improvement. A control bar is placed on top to pause and play the action at will. The music is somewhat similar, but has some notable differences to the original author's choices. Stick figures are enhanced and larger to make the action feel a little more close up. The background and the overall environment have a cartoonish feel that the originals didn't have. This flash sticks true to the others in that the sticks kill eachother, they use the environment to their advantage, and, of course, it ends with the complete annihilation of the battlefield. It's noticeably different but also has points that keep Ringfinger's concepts in mind. Fun to watch, easy to enjoy, and flows pretty smooth the whole way through (exceptions being a small lag at explosions.) No ennui here. Just a well thought out, ersatz creation. I would really like to see more. You could develop this into your own thing. At the VERY VERY least, it's fantastic. Excellent job!

You seemed to have covered everything in my mind when I started this project! Thanks a lot for the high priase, it feels great when someone tells you how much they like your efforts, why else do we do this stuff? :D

A Nice Tribute

Well put together and well thought out. Anything involving orchestra is essentially a good soundtrack for any tribute. A nice, summarized presentation that reminds us of some of the best that Newgrounds has thrown out in '07 and also reveals that there is truly a massive pool of talent in this community worth being thankful for. Nice work and thanks for making this flash.----------------------I'm crappy at animating so here's my tribute: I thank all the artists here that take time out of their day to ensure that we are entertained during our day. I thank Newgrounds for existing as a salad that everyone can toss and add their own secret ingredient to. Most of all, I appreciate that today's world still has imaginations that can burn the fuel that Newgrounds provides but can also cause a spark for everyone else to forge their own flame. Here's to you Newgrounds. Keep on truckin because '08 is gonna be haulin a heavy-ass load.

Thanks for the review, and thanks (on behalf of NG) for the very kind words :3

Me And Myself Gave It Four Thumbs Up

I've been waiting for this forever. I like the style of animation and the comedy in it is never the same thing over and over again, so it's not repetetive. Just the right length of time so it doesn't drag on but it's able to do more than give you a small taste. Personally, my computer ran it just fine, no trouble at all. I watched it a couple times and I honestly couldn't find anything wrong with it (unless you count 1 or 2 nitpicks.) Anyone who's a Halo fan should definitely watch this. One thing to AlmightyHans: This is definitely worth the time you spent on it. For the upcoming parts, definitely take your time and make sure it is absolutely what you want, as you did with this one. Most importantly, have as much fun making it as I do watching it.

I found Newgrounds again. Happy to see it's still going! :)
